We are only victims of our own thinking

Note: This is a repost of my article on my home blog here. I'm posting it here because I think it's a nice reminder to focus on everything that's good in our lives. In order to excel in what we do we need to be confident in ourselves and our abilities every day.

Ever heard the saying, you are what you eat? Well, the same applies to our way of thinking.

Have you ever realized that what you think and focus on manifests itself into your everyday being? If you focus on how down you're feeling because things (work, life, etc.) aren't so good you'll walk around with a slouch and frown on your face all day long. And nobody likes a sourpuss!

If on the other hand your start thinking of the positive and focusing on the good, you'll walk around with an extra pep in your step, a smile on your face and you'll draw brighter conversations towards you.

Barbara Berger says:

"Decide on the life you want, visualize it, affirm it, decree it, focus on it, believe in it, have faith in it, and you will find yourself living this life much more quickly than you ever dreamed possible...

When the realization dawns on you, and you stop laughing, you'll probably ask yourself why you spent so much of your life working so hard, struggling like mad against outside circumstances, when all you had to do was change your own thinking." [Source: "The Road to Power"]

And that's what people want (clients, friends and family)...to be around a more confident you!

So true!  A Jack Canfield 7-day seminar got me started on the visualize and affirm path.. otherwise, I would still be in Hilo, HI working as a controller and being 'less than enthused' about it!  Positive thinking is a blessing.  I will get off sugar... I will get off sugar... I will get off sugar!

Ah, my one vice. They say that if you repeat your affirmations 15 times a day, everyday, they will come true. I'm still drinking a daily redbull or Rockstar energy drink.

On a serious note, focusing on the good really does make you feel confident. And when you walk around exuding nothing but confidence, it's inspiring. Clients like that... They want to know that you can get things done!

Good Morning Ricardo, this is so true! I love it! We control the atmosphere around us. I think when we're negative people can sense it oozing out of ourselves even when we don't say a word. Onward and upward I say!

Ricardo - Great post and sssooooo TRUE!  We have to take whatever situation we are in and see the good in it.....it might be hiding but we have to find it and focus on it....Thanks for the reminder to smile, stay focused on the positive and you will reap what you sow...

Ricardo, I read Jack Canfield. He inspires me to keep postive and focus on the life I want. Love the quote by Barbara Berger, hadn't heard of her. Thanks for sharing.

Denise: thanks for visiting...it's great to meet you! I look forward to seeing you around again :D

Linda: "Onward and upward I say!"

I like the attitude. When we're negative it definitely shines through even if we are quiet. We can try and try to keep it to ourselves but it just won't work.

Leesa: Just think of that when you're working on those lists and scraping around for those notebooks! You're just like me in writing everything down...(now if I could only keep track of all my notes).

"Stay focused on the positive and you will reap what you sow..."

I can definitely see that!

Missy: I met Barbara through a mutual blogging friend that we have...can't recall exactly how we were introduced but I commented on one of her posts one day. She emailed back and a short dialogue ensued. Next thing you know she sent me one of her books as gift. It was entirely unexpected and very much appreciated! Anyway, that's how we connected and that's how we met.

I haven't read Jack Canfield but you and Susie seem to say great things about him!

positive breed positive - and negativity breeds negativity - no matter how tough it is finding the best in something will always bring you a better outcome

Bill: You said,

"Attitude is everything..."

I was going to say, "especially in sales..." But then I thought to myself...attitude is everything in greater life in general!

Ellie: We all do sometimes :D  Thanks for visiting! How have you been?

Barbara: My pleasure. I hope it's been a great week!

Doug: Hey there. I only wish I had a clever quote of my own to add...I'll have to come back and revisit this one :D

Steve: Yea. It's hard sometimes you know. After all, we're only human. We all have downs. But when you change your perspective to think/say, it could be worse...things seem better.

Thesa: You said,

"no matter how tough it is finding the best in something will always bring you a better outcome"

And it does get tough. I admit it too. But like you said, positive breeds positive. So I try and hang around those who bring me up. Everyone should.
